Most people come onto the internet and make money by selling stuff but hey it's not easy getting your own product to sell, that's where affiliate marketing comes into it.

Affiliate marketing is great because you're selling other people's tried and tested products which they have researched and spent money developing and for doing so they pay you a percentage of the sale as commission straight into your bank account for your effort.
The best thing about affiliate marketing is that there is almost an unlimited number of products in a multitude of categories to choose from.
That means that you can sell stuff you're interested in and have a passion for, which will make it fun and most of all you don't have to worry about nagging customers.

Let me explain the general process.
You sign up to sell someone's product or service, you then go about advertising and promoting that product with the intention of making a sale and claiming your commission.
You must be wondering� "How do they know it's me making the sale?"
Well when you sign up as an affiliate you get an Affiliate URL which is the URL your client will click on to buy the product you are promoting and all your sales get logged on the promoters server.

Now that you have the general idea I'm sure you're wondering how much the average commission is per sale, well it all depends.
If you're selling any product that is non physical you get a minimum of 50% but most products are around 60% - 70%.
Physical products on the other hand are a lot less 20% - 40%.

With such a selection to choose from you must always be very careful to check up on the person you're selling for, or product you're promoting.
There's no use promoting something that is not selling� Right?

All of you home based business entrepreneurs that are trying to make a living working from home know the problems encountered through Internet marketing and trying to get your web page noticed in order to increase traffic and ultimately revenues. Some people just blindly pay a lot of money for advertising, and those who don�t have an advertising budget often times do not advertise at all. Both of these are detrimental to your business, and it does not have to be as difficult as you are making it.

There are many innovative and creative ways to market your products and services inexpensively if not free, so spending a lot of money on it could be wasteful. But if you have no money to spend you may be dooming your business to fail by not advertising. People in this situation should be diligent about searching out all the options for free advertising.

When it comes to advertising, there are many options online and offline that will help you spread the word about your Web page and your product and you will increase traffic and revenues because of it.

First, check out offline venues like local newspapers, television stations, radio stations and the like for free advertisements. Often times these mediums are looking for new local businesses to highlight in their business sections and/or discussions. This is free advertisement and something you should cash in on immediately. Also, make sure your URL is on all of the printed material you use in regard to your business whether it is stationary or free gifts. You can submit newsletters to online ezines and the like with a resource box with your information, trade links with other relevant web pages, and other ideas similar to this. Certainly, you can do banners and other advertising, but if you don�t have much of a budget try all of the free options before you start paying money you do not have. As you grow, your advertising budget can grow as well.

As long as you are creative and proactive in finding inexpensive and/or free advertising your business will grow, your revenues will grow and you will not be spending much at all on advertising. Remember, the more people that are aware of your web page increases traffic, referrals and ultimately purchases. Ever wondered why Walt Disney never got sued for intellectual property theft?

C�mon, the guy ripped off so many Hans Christian Anderson and Grimm Brothers� fairy tales! And he never paid the said authors any royalty fees! Granted that they�re dead, but shouldn�t their families be entitled to proceeds from their works? Such would be a small price to pay, considering the accumulated wealth of Walt Disney�s billion dollar enterprise.

But alas, Mr. Walt Disney, you see, is a marketing genius. He knew how to exploit the allowable usage of public domain information, and he built for himself an empire in the process.

And if Walt Disney can do it, so can you! After all, we all have access to public domain information. We don�t even need a touch of that famous Disney magic. We just have to weave our own creative spin on things.

But first, the basics�

Public domain information is defined as any body of creative works and other knowledge that is not protected by US copyright laws. Copyright protection needs further verification, but by force of statute, works done prior to 1923 are public domain information. The law also includes works done prior to 1978, for as long as the life of the author plus seventy years does not exceed the current year.

The term �body of creative works and other knowledge� includes literary works, music, movies, artworks, scientific ideas, and inventions, just to name a few. So, quite literally, public domain information is an ocean of many promises and splendid discoveries for anyone who would decide to dip their feet in its inviting waters.

And public domain information is free. Everything that you�ll earn from it is net profit!

Walt Disney made good use of public domain information by making updating old classics into movies for the new, during his time at least, generation. That was the creative spin he used to market works that are quite archaic to make them seem new and fresh. He found his audience, and he made his fortunes. There�s no reason why you can�t do it.

Ah, budget constraints you say. But we are internet marketers, dear friend. That�s the beauty of the web, you see. Seldom do we have to spend a substantial amount to invest on something. Many avenues are available for us to make good use of free public domain information!

Here are some ways to use public domain information. They would surely earn you significant gains!

1. Republish old literary works as e-books. The classics you see in bookstores are prime examples of earning from public domain information. The publishers did not have to buy the rights for the books they have decided to distribute. You could do the same with e-books. Search your local library for old works, and scan them. Convert the images to text with a text bridge program, edit errors, package them nice in .pdf format, and you�re all set to market a royalties-free product!

3. Make downloadable albums of old songs. Here�s your chance to make MP3 downloads that are actually legal. However, please bear in mind that only the songs are free game. The performances of certain versions (i.e. the London Philharmonic Orchestra�s version of a Beethoven classic) are separate copyrights in themselves. It would be best to make your own version from the public domain compositions.

4. Offer downloadable movies. Just like Walt Disney, Ted Turner has made a killing with public domain information. One of his channels, Turner Classics, shows pre-1923 movies which he can rebroadcast without having to pay any royalties. You could do the same by offering old movies for download.

5. Make posters of timeless masterpieces. You could also search the web for high quality images of classic paintings and sketches. These digitized masterpieces can easily be reproduced as posters which you could sell to the millions of art aficionados worldwide.

6. Republish old classic words as website content. You can scan an old book, turn it into text format, and then put the content into webpages. Search engine and visitors love great content and you can profit from adsense or affiliate program related to your content too.

Why Link Exchanges are Dead

It's no secret-link exchanges are dying a painful death. And why you ask? Since March 2005 the new Google algorythm has become very very picky about the quality, quantity and frequency of incoming links to your website. It now considers reciprocal linking to be, in fashion terms; OUT!

So what can you do to get legitimate incoming links to your website to maintain your traffic? The new wave in link building is content exchanges. It is fairly simple, just submit your written articles to article directories and webmasters looking for content.

You've probably heard of "writing articles" for free traffic before, so why is it called the "new wave" in free traffic? Glad you asked, let me elaborate. A couple of years ago an internet marketing Guru named Jim Edwards wrote an ebook titled "Turn Words in to Traffic". In this ebook Jim explained how to write and distribute articles as the ideal way to get free incoming links to your website.

Many big (and little) name webmasters jumped on the band wagon and started to implement Jim's techniques and see the results. But after a time, even though the concept and results reamined the same, many webmasters abandoned writing and distributing articles for two reasons.

First, some people just can't or hate to write. And second, it is very tedious and time consuming to go around to the 40+ article and ezine content banks and manually submit your articles to each site each time you write an article.

So why the comeback? Many webmasters who previously didn't want to write articles have discovered either HOW to write articles, or they've hired out their article writing at about $10.00 per article to ghost writers at sites like elance.com. They recognized the power of distributing articles and simply out sourced it.

But the problem remains that it is still tedious to submit each article to every article bank every time you write a new one. This new move back to writing articles is fueled by the same thing that webmasters are using to have their content written; outsourcing. People simply pay someone else to do this tedious work.

Companies like submityourarticle.com manually do the submitting for you, though at a price (and it's not cheap). But if the traffic is coming in and you are capitolazing on that traffic it's an investment worth making.

However, for those out there who don't want to pay a per article fee, an associate of mine, Jason Potash has been working on a solution to the problem. A solution that is very soon to be released. Subscribers to my newsletter will get the latest, and if you aren't keeping up with this ground breaking new trend you need to spend some time on the internet marketing message boards to get the latest news.

The conclusion, article writing has never been totally dead, but the wave is coming back with a host of new tools and services to make the process easier for webmasters to capitolize on. Get in the groove, dust off the type writer and start benefitting from free article writing traffic.

Key #1: Choose a HOT Topic

You'll need to do a little research on this one. If you

issues are hot? What topics currently appear within top
ezines, messageboards, ebooks? What keywords are they
using to search online?

It's also a good idea to frequently visit article
directories and content sites. These sites contain current
articles on a variety of popular topics. Often, you can
view the most popular article topics (or clicks) as well.

Magnetic title? That's right. Your article title is your

article:

"Get More Traffic In The Search Engines", "Easy Search
Engine Tips", or "Free Traffic Generation Strategies".

BLAH! See what I mean? These don't pack much "punch", do
they?

Your title is just like a classified ad. Look at it this
way. If your article title is crowded on a webpage with
100 others, what will make it jump off the page?

Key #3: Use The AIDA Principle

Attention Interest Desire Action

This universal formula applies to your articles as well.
Once you've enticed your reader to read your article (via
a great title), you need to keep them reading.

The first paragraph of your article is critical. If it's
dull, boring and lifeless, your reader will surely bail
out. You must keep their interest right from the start.
Try using short paragraphs, sentences and words. This will
keep the tempo upbeat and make your article much easier to
read (or skim, as most do online).

Key #4: Create Several Sub-Headings

To better organize your thoughts, divide your article into
sub-headings. At times, writing a 500-700 word article can
seem insurmountable. Sub-headings make things easier.
Instead of tackling the entire article at once, try
writing one paragraph at a time.

Key #5: "Close The Sale" With A Resource Box

One of the worst things you can do is to leave your reader
hanging. They've just read your great article, now what? A
resource box appears at the very end of your article. It's
the last line that your reader sees. It's your chance to
set the next step.

Make sure that your resource box is compelling. Make the
reader jump over to your website, sign up for your ezine,
download your latest ebook, claim their free gift -- get
creative!

Also, the resource box allows you to include a direct link
back to your website. Sit back and watch your link
popularity soar!

Key #6: Poofread Your Work

Did you catch that? It should have read, "Proofread".
Nothing hollers out amateur, newbie, or just plain
unprofessional than an article filled with typos and bad
grammar. If you don't have an English major in the family,
hire a proofreader. Their rates are reasonable and they
can save you from damaging your reputation online.

Key #7 - Promote, promote, promote

Let's make one thing clear. Without key #7, keys 1-6 are a
waste of time. Bottom line, no one will read your article
if you keep it stored on a floppy disk in your desk.

You've got to promote it!

article directories, article banks, free content sites,
article announcement lists, and article syndication

An Online Homebased Business is Not Rocket Science

A few years ago when I first started my online home business I
didn't have a clue regarding how to go about it. I had never
done any Internet marketing, and didn't know anything about
websites or search engines or any of that other online business
stuff...in short, I was a complete rookie. In retrospect, the
two major things that really helped me was that I refused to be
intimidated and I kept a realistic perspective (both in terms of
initial financial results and the time frame necessary to become
successful).

I know from my own years of experience that relatively few
business ventures are started on the Internet by people with
the experience, motivation, determination, backing, and support
that it takes to even have a reasonable chance of success.

Real online business people are those who work hard, who immerse
themselves deeply in marketing and advertising, and who put in
long hours in the beginning in order to see their Internet-based
businesses succeed.

Achieving success in an online business is not difficult to
comprehend. There is indeed a learning curve, but it's not brain
surgery. The process of learning isn't as much the issue as are
the personal traits of motivation and determination.

Develop your marketing plan and execute it. There's no magic in
this online home based business stuff. We're talking real world
here. It's not nearly as romantic as winning the lottery, yet
many of the thousands of people I have helped to start up their
home businesses on the Internet clearly came in with what I have
come to refer to as the "magic/lottery" mentality. Many of those
folks went off to chase another rainbow after a few months, but
some of them also came to their senses and buckled down to
develop very successful home based businesses.

Run, don't walk, away from all of those people that offer you
"shortcuts" or "success secrets" (probably in exchange for some
of your money). I mean, if they had it all figured out, why
would they sell this "magic answer" to you for a few bucks
instead of just keeping it private and then making tons of
money for themselves? (I'll leave it to you to connect the dots)

A key point to always keep in mind is that...business is
business. Regardless of whether you are on the Internet or
operating a business in a shopping mall. The same
fundamental principles apply to both businesses.

1) You need to have a product, or products, to sell.

2) You need to advertise to get customers to buy your
products.

3) You need to provide support to your customers who buy
your products as a result of your advertising efforts.

4) You need to build a loyal customer following, so you can
maintain a profitable business over a period of time.

Many people fall into the trap of believing that because
they are doing business on the Internet, some of these steps
can either be skipped or they need to overemphasize one area
or another.

The bottom line regarding an online business is that you will
need to advertise and you will need to take care of your
customers.

Run your online home business just like a real company
because it is, in fact, a real business and you have a real
opportunity to either be successful or to fail. The primary
difference between an online business and a traditional
business is location (no traditional "storefront"). Nearly
everything else is essentially the same. You have products
and your objective is to sell those products to people who
want/need your products.

Remember, building a business takes time, determination,
and patience. Far too many people seem to think that the
traffic is just going to pour in once they have put up their
own website on the Internet. As anyone who has had a website
for a while knows...this simply is not true, but it is often
the reason people get frustrated and quit. The fact of the
matter is that you need to diligently promote/advertise your
website in order for your online home based business to
flourish and prosper.

One of the most important bits of advice that I can pass on to
you is that you must be patient. Most people start their online
home business with great enthusiasm and high expectations. Often,
after a few months, they become disappointed and frustrated
because they are not already making a large amount of money.

These impatient home business entrepreneurs then often start to
jump from one program to another every few months (never allowing
themselves enough time to succeed at any of them) and, finally,
throw up their hands in frustration and declare that they just
can�t make money online.

Stick with your business and don�t give up. Dogged persistence
(much like the tenacity of a pit bull) is an absolutely vital key
to your eventual success. Don�t give up when things become
frustrating and you are not achieving the immediate success you
expected. Give your online home based business sufficient time to
develop and you realize the success you are seeking.

There is nothing magical about running an online home based
business. It should be run the same as any traditional "bricks
and mortar" business and it will succeed or fail depending on

How to Build a Niche Website in 9 Simple Steps

Maybe you�ve been wondering how to go about setting up a niche web site. Well, here�s a quick little article that will show you how to create your very own affiliate web site. Please note: this is the cheat sheet version. There is a lot more information you should learn about this subject before you get started.

Step 1. Pick a Niche Subject

This may be the hardest part of your web site project. There�s literally tons of subjects to choose from. People are interested in a variety of things � from parrots to pilots. You don�t have to necessarily pick something you�re interested in, but it helps.

You�re more likely to do a better job at building your site when you have some interest in the subject matter. It�s like taking a high school or college class. Some subjects are more interesting than others.
Make sure you choose something that a reasonable amount of people are actually searching for online and want to find out more information about.

Step 2. Do Keyword Research

This is a part that many people skip. I�ve made that mistake myself and suffered the consequences � a failed web site. Even though it�s nice to think that you can write anything you want and have total creative freedom, not using keyword rich content is a BIG mistake.

I�d rather lose some creative freedom and attract visitors to my site, than have a lot of flowery prose that zero people will see. You MUST include targeted keywords in your web site copy. Also, make sure you use your targeted keywords in the upper third portion of your web site pages. This is also called optimizing your web site for the search engines. Use the Overture Keyword Tool for research:

Note: keywords must be relevant to the THEME (subject) of your site. Be careful not to over use them. Search engines don�t like keyword SPAM.

Step 3. Get A Domain Name

Having a unique domain name is important, although some don�t agree. However, a unique domain name makes your site look more professional and trustworthy to visitors. I use BuyDomains (http://www.buydomains.com). They are not the cheapest, but I stick with them because I like their easy interface and good customer service. Nameboy (http://www.nameboy.com) is also good.

Step 4. Write Keyword Rich Content

This may be a hard step for those of you who don�t consider yourselves writers. But, writing web site copy is not as hard as it seems. Just think of it as having a conversation with a friend about a product or service you�re really enthusiastic about.

Don�t think you can extol the benefits of your subject? Tune your TV into QVC or one of the other shopping networks to see how they can spend several minutes talking about the benefits of all kinds of mundane products. This is what you�ll be doing for your web site.

Your copy should feature a good balance of friendliness and professionalism. Remember, you�re passing along useful information to your visitor. Put yourself in their shoes. What would you want to know about xyz subject if you were them? Now, write that down. Don�t forget to sprinkle targeted keywords throughout your copy. I print out a list of them to use for my sites.

If you simply can�t put words onto the page and find yourself staring at a blank screen, then visit Internet marketing forums like Willie Crawford�s (http://www.williecrawford.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi) for suggestions on finding writers. Or, visit Elance (http://www.elance.com).

Step 5. Build Your Web Site

Ok. You�ve created your copy. Now it�s time to build the actual physical web site. I use Homestead (http://www.homestead.com), but there are many good point and click web site builders out there.

You have a lot of creative freedom on how you want your site to look (I prefer black copy on white backgrounds with photos), but remember that people are looking for attractive, easy-to-navigate sites with useful information.

Step 6. Sign Up for Matching Affiliate Programs

You�ve created a web site about xyz subject. Now look for affiliate vendors who perfectly match the theme of your site. Integrate your affiliates attractively into your web site copy. Don�t confuse your visitors by giving them too many choices.

If you want to list a lot of affiliates on the same page, you can create a helpful �resource guide� page.

Step 7. Include Google Adsense Ads

Google has a great program for web site owners who wish to make a little extra money for simply displaying google ads on their web site.
It�s easy to sign up and free. Just visit google
(http://www.google.com/ads) and sign up for their Adsense program. They�ll give you some html code to copy and paste on your site.

While google decides which ads will actually appear on your site, you can decide how the google ads will look � choose colors, borders, etc. and where to put them on your pages.

Step 8. Find Link Partners

I found out that exchanging links with other web site owners is a MUST if you want to improve your search engine rankings. Google especially will consider your site more relevant if your site has other sites linking to it. Also the ad copy from other sites, if relevant, can add more valuable keyword content to your own site.

I use Linkmarket (http://www.linkmarket.net) to find credible web sites to exchange links with. It�s free to join.

Step 9. Write Articles to Promote Your Site

Oh oh. Here�s that writing thing again. Well, you better get used to it, because writing articles like this one (normally your articles will be about the subject matter of your web site) will help give your affiliate web site much needed exposure. It doesn�t matter if you write them yourself or hire others (ghostwriters) to write them for you.

You�ll find that the best Internet marketers all write articles to promote themselves, their newsletters, and products and services. Remember, there�s a reason the Internet is called the �information� super highway.

After writing your articles, you can post them to article submission sites, which you can find by typing �article submission� in Google. People can easily find your articles to use as free content for their sites.

The best affiliate programs are ones where the vendor (affiliate) also has an attractive, easy-to-navigate, give-the-customer-what-they-want, and easy to order type of web site. Also, these vendors are very helpful and supportive to their affiliates.

Another important truth is that you should resist the temptation to promote lots of affiliates on your web site. This is the dreaded �affiliate overkill� syndrome. You should especially stay away from affiliate programs that have absolutely nothing to do with the theme of your web site � these will not attract any interest from your visitors.

So, the bottom line truth about affiliate programs is that, although they are easy to set up, it�s really not very easy at all to make money with them. This is true even if you�ve done everything right. It takes a lot of patience, tweaking, and testing to nurture your affiliate site into an income generating profit machine.

But, don�t let this discourage you from jumping into the affiliate marketing waters and getting your feet wet. The more you do, the more you learn.

We talk a lot about having a foundation and having a foundation is

There are TWO credo's that immediately come to my mind immediately
when I think of email marketing strategies. I want to share them with you
and I really want you to write them down on a sticky note and keep them
someone where you will see them constantly.

Here they are... 1. How can I use this tactic so that I am always adding to
or building a list?

By asking yourself this question you are putting yourself in a proactive state,
which is fantastic! Many people are more reactive when it comes to their
marketing efforts and reacting is like the little mouse running in that wheel
in a cage, he spends all that time running and running and never gets
anywhere. Its the same with people who are reactive, they spend all that
time reacting and not getting anywhere with their marketing results.

2. You CAN'T market to a ghost

Hits to your site doesn't mean "jack" if they don't buy and if you don't have
a tactic in place that will enable you to follow up with that traffic. If you can't
capture an email address and a name, then all you are doing is marketing to
ghosts.

There are 1000s of sites out there that don't have an effective way of capturing
an email address and a name so that they can follow up and build a relationship
with. Many of these sites are affiliate sites and because of the way they are set
up you aren't able to make any changes to them. The way around that is to build
your own theme-based site, add in your email marketing systems and of course
your affiliate programs. It sounds hard, but it isn't and it shouldn't surprise you
that all this is the exact strategy that the top affiliate profit earners use.

With that said, let's look at another system to have in place for the purpose of
email marketing.

What we are going to do is put together a free eMarketing Kit which will consist
of four items:

1. A newsletter subscription
A newsletter is a fantastic way to follow up with a prospect and of course
to further in the developing of trust and rapport with prospects, or as you
have no doubt read about..."relationship marketing."

2. A Sponsor Announcement

marketing.

3. An eCourse/Report
Another list building tool for you, whether you go the eCourse route or the
Report route the key points to remember is that: 1. the piece is information

4. A viral marketing tool
This can be an ebook that is customized with your name, site address and/or
email address. A propsect can have it for the cost of their name and email
address and in return they can use it on their site. Now you have a name on
a list and of course you are leveraging your marketing efforts through them.
Take it one step further and offer your prospect the choice to customize your
ebook with their information for a small fee and you have just added an income
stream into the mix. Now how cool is that???

You write a "sales page" (yes, even for a freebie kit like this) and have the
items in place with little graphics, lay it out so it looks professional and not
just slapped together. Set up "A" pop-up and place it on your site and an
enticement and of course write classified ads directing people to your free
eMarketing Kit and you are away to the races.

I know that people hate pop-ups but they do work. The unfortunate thing is
that many went over-board with them and because of that it ruined it for the
rest of us who use pop-ups properly. One pop-up is ok - try it and see how
your return rate is

Originally the conference call was limited to businesses paying exorbitant fees to the telcos. For business, it still made sense economically because the costs were less than the travel costs involved in bringing the people together. Additionally, significant time savings are involved, both in terms of travel time and in being able to communicate fairly rapidly to an extended group.

Telcos then extended their market by providing conference calling services to home consumers for an added fee. For some, it made sense to be able to bring a family or group with common interests together easily, usually to plan some physical event.

With the expansion of the internet, and in particular, the increasing availability and decreasing pricing for high speed internet access, conference calling has expanded far beyond its original uses.

For business, it remains a vital tool and has, actually, become far more useful as prices fall and the ease of use increases. Real time audio/video conferencing is already in use (and in some organizations has been for quite some time). As the cost of bandwidth decreases and the technology underlying audio-video transmission over networks improves, true real-time video conferencing will increase dramatically.

With the growing sophistication of the typical surfer and the expansion of internet marketing, audio and video have become hot items. Within the internet marketing community, conference calls - usually known as teleseminars, have become a standard feature. Offering the opportunity to reach a large group of interested prospects in a relatively simple and inexpensive format, teleseminars also offer the marketer an opportunity to create an instant product. A recording of a teleseminar can either be sold as a stand-alone product or used as a marketing tool for back-end products.

Marketers are using both free and paid teleseminars. Generally there is a higher level of injected sales content in free teleseminars, but it does vary a great deal.

Solutions available now range from the rather expensive to essentially free. Your choice is going to depend on exactly what level of service you require. There are a number of providers which offer an introductory pricing scheme (I've seen it as low as a $1 for the first month), which gives you the opportunity to see firsthand how their service works at a very modest cost. You do need to make sure you understand just how your users will access the conference. Solutions which use telephone call-ins are generally more restrictive and/or expensive than those utilizing an internet connection or VoIP softphone connections.

True real-time audio/video conferencing hasn't arrived yet for most. The bandwidth requirements remain excessive and the quality of the video, in particular, is fairly low. If you ever done live chat with audio and a web camera, you've seen the limitations.

Most online presentations which involve both audio and video generally use static images which change either rarely or slowly, such as charts, website images, topic outlines and so on. This can be extremely useful for teleseminars, of course, because it makes it easier to demonstrate certain points and provides a visual as well as an audio focus for participants.

The combination of audio and visual elements is particularly useful in training situations where one can reinforce the other. Plus, you have the advantage of reaching those who learn better through visual means, as well as those partial to audio.

For those of you doing eCommerce the evolved conference call can be an incredible tool. Consider how much impact regular teleseminars about your area of expertise could have on future sales. You can provide buyers with instructional teleseminars. You can introduce new products. And in each instance you'll be generating recordings which you can either sell or make available on your sites, or use as added viral marketing tools.

With the increasing sophistication and usability of the tools for conference calling, the possibilities are virtually unlimited and well within the reach of every entrepreneur. You'll be hard pressed to find another tool that offers you the impact and potential of the conference call.

The world of Internet marketing isn�t all it�s cracked up to be. In fact, it can be a brutally cold one. Believe me, I learned the hard way.

I started trying to make money online when I was 14. Like today, there were a lot of scams out there, and being so young I was especially vulnerable. I wasted hundreds of dollars.

The weird thing was I was a pretty smart kid. I knew the value of a buck. But when I came online I didn�t think that �real world� rules applied.

All too often people come online and lose all sense of reality like I did. I see two types of people who fail online.

The first type of person thinks EVERYTHING online is a big scam. They don�t think they should have to pay for information in e-books or for tools they will need.

If you have to put money into your Internet business, it�s a definite scam. They also may be freebie seekers and try to suck all your time and knowledge away for free.

Don�t get me wrong. You should always have your �Scam Radar� up when you�re online. But let�s think about this logically. Can you startup an offline business without investing any money into it? Even a small family owned business requires some startup capital.

So why would an online business be any different? Starting up an online business is a lot cheaper than starting an offline one, but the same principles apply. This is what economics is all about. People make money by providing a product or service to their customers. It works the same way online.

The second type of person thinks the total opposite. They throw all judgment and common sense out the window and usually dive headfirst into a whirlpool of scams.

They join downline clubs, gifting clubs, �Send $5 to everyone on this list� programs; they usually spam people and end up wasting a whole lot of money. I should know. I used to be a Type 2 when I first started out! I don�t know why, but I just figured the Internet was a magical wonderland where money fell from skies of gold. Then I woke up.

Type 2 people give legitimate online businesses a very bad name. In fact, they are usually the ones who turn people into a Type 1! After seeing all these scams, it�s no wonder some people look at the Internet as one big con.

Type 2 people usually give up eventually and walk away with a bad taste in their mouth. They also end up looking at the Internet as one big scam.

Then there is a third type of person, and hopefully you fall into this category. They see the wonderful potential of the Internet and online business, but also realize that the same universal laws of business apply. They are willing to learn what works, invest time and money in their business, and be patient and persistent.

I realized after awhile that you shouldn�t try to �make money� online. That�s too vague. You should start a legitimate business and treat it as a real one. And that�s what type 3 people do.

Don�t these people make the most sense? They also make the most dollars (Get the pun?! ;)

Again, with the local newsletters in your community and any small

off line advertising to generate some exposure from off line

Remember that you have to pay for this advertising so in that
regard, advertising in something that you can afford and afford
for a long period of time.

Networking

By attending a networking mixer you are getting the best of both
worlds. You get the chance to get out and break out of that bubble
AND you also get to spread the word about your business by talking
with others!!

Depending upon the format, many of these mixers are of a referral
nature. Meaning they allow only one business from each industry
and through each member's dealings if they find someone looking
for your service or product... then you will
get a referral to follow up on.

Business Cards

A business card can end up in more places than you can even
dream possible. They are a cost effective marketing tool. How
many places do you go to on a regular basis where you could
just leave a few business cards on a counter??? Now even if
you are an eBusiness owner you can still use this to your
advantage.

Here are a few things to consider when getting your cards done.

1. Do not go with black printing on a white card. It screams cheap
and newbie. If money is tight, understandable, but go for a coloured
card stock with a matching coloured print. It is still inexpensive and
it doesn't scream new, or "Herb Tarlick" marketing practices.

2. Include your business name, contact name, phone number, site
address, web site address and of course your address. If for
security reasons you don't want to include your home address
then that's fine. However, make sure you have ALL possible ways
for a potential customer to do business with you.

3. USE THE BACK OF THE CARD...what a waste of potential
marketing opportunities. So many people forget about this. A
business card is a mini- billboard...use it ALL. On the back you
could have a few tips and then the email address to your
autoresponder for them to get more info. I had an Accountant
use the back of her card by providing all the applicable phone
numbers to all the tax offices that a business owner would need.
Another client of mine is a travel agent and he included all the
1-800 numbers for the prime airlines and car rental agencies. The
idea is to make your card a keeper ;o)

Business Alliances

Ok, on line we refer to these as Joint Ventures, Business Alliances
is the same thing, but only the name has been changed.

Leverage yourself by finding another business owner off line,
where you can set up an alliance and piggy back each other's
marketing efforts. This one takes a little time and effort to set
up, but, once it is again you are tapping into prospects that would
never have found you otherwise.

There you go, five quick tips and in some regards you can use the
same tactic in both on and off line marketing...so why not???

The reason for following up with the client is that you want to refresh their memory about having been to your place of business. Remind them that they viewed your products. You can use this opportunity to boast your product�s advantages. You could offer special discounts or other bonuses to entice them to purchase. Don�t give up easily just because they didn�t buy the first time. This is your lead-in to a possible sale. Rather than approach each of these potential customers individually, an autoresponder does it for you. This saves you time, stress, and effort. It is done for you automatically.

There are several types of autoresponders. Each type has different capabilities. For this reason, they range from free to very expensive. It�s up to you to choose the autoresponder that best fits your business needs.

If you want more advanced capabilities, you can always purchase autoresponder software. There are two types of autoresponder software. The first is installed on the web host server, and the second is installed on your computer. There are advantages and disadvantages to purchasing each.

First, the software installed on the server isn�t always user-friendly. If it�s really complicated, chances are that it will require services of an installer. It also may be limited to providing only one autoresponder address on that server. However, sending emails in a big list is handled by the server. The server-based software manages the autoresponder addresses and is backed up. This takes that stress off the user.

If you opt for autoresponder software installed on your own computer, you have the advantage of it being easy to install, but you are responsibility of backing up the list. Sending mass emails might exceed the limits of your internet service provider. This software, however, might offer the possibility of combining the email list with other functions or marketing tools that would not be possible via server based software.

Whichever autoresponder you choose, it is most likely to your benefit to incorporate this marketing tool into your business. It saves you time, effort, and in some cases money. Let technology work for you. This is an effortless way to increase sales.

MLM Leads-The Top 10 Realities You MUST Know About MLM Leads.

What is an MLM Lead? And why would you need an MLM lead to work? In Network Marketing, many times we run out of warm market, or we simply do not have many friends in an area. MLM leads help you to find people that are interested in a Network Marketing Home Business. They have called in either off of an ad, or maybe off of an internet site, and indicated they have an interest in a home based business.

After having worked MLM Leads for 8 years, and made over 50,000 phone calls, there are some things that you need to know. MLM leads are a great way to work MLM, but there are 10 things you need realize about MLM Leads. They can be a GOLD MINE, or an empty shaft. You must learn the difference.

1)They are NOT a guaranteed Sale or Recruit.

Just because they have indicated an interest, does not mean they are a done deal. They are simply many times �kicking tires� and checking to see what is out there. Make sure you know that they are serious about looking at your company.

2)They many times are NOT truly willing to change their life.

What a lead says, and what a lead does are 2 different things many times. You must be aware that they may change their mind once they realize they have to change some things in their life. Many people are apathetic. Move on when they show you this.

3)An MLM Lead is usually very skeptical and guarded.

This is normal. Many people who you will call, will want to get to know you first, and then take a serious look at your offer. Develop the relationship, for that is what will develop the Success.

4)An MLM lead is NOT a source of future Volume. Only a POTENTIAL Source.

The potential of an MLM lead can be HUGE, or nothing. That is why that you call them. There may be a gold mine waiting to be dug in that lead, or it may end up being a pile of dirt as far as potential. You must understand that. You qualify them and then make your decision if they are worth pursuing.

5)There are many leads that have been burned before with other MLM companies.

Many MLM leads you call have had a home business before, but got burned from dishonest people. They carry that �hurt� into your conversation, and you must be sensitive to it. Let them tell you about it, and you listen. You will be surprised at the good that can do for them, and you. They will respect your willingness to listen, and care.

6)An MLM Lead IS looking for something, but you must find out what that something is.

You MUST find what the lead is looking for. Financial Security? Recognition? Training? Personal Development? Freedom? Pay for kid�s college? To quit their job? All of these are possibilities, and you must zero in on what they are looking for. Once you discover it, help them obtain it with your company.

7)An MLM Lead is human, and has Dreams just like you.

One of the great things about MLM leads as they are human, and most want a better life for themselves and family. They have dreams, and goals. You just talk to them about their dreams, and their desires and hope for their life. Make their dream a priority in your initial conversation. You will be surprised at their response to your interest in helping them achieve their Dreams.

8)An MLM Lead can, and will, lead you on, and then disappear.

I call it the �ADP.� The Amazing Disappearing Prospect. Many leads you call, will try and lead you on because they appear to want to be chased and that makes them feel important. Do NOT chase them. If they disappear, let them go. There are more leads out there than you can count. Go to the next one.

9)An MLM Lead CAN make you rich.

You read that right. There are many folks that have been called, and recruited, and have exploded into the industry. But you MUST be persistent in working the numbers. They WILL show up, if you simply let them. Don�t give up, because they WILL show up if you persist. And potential wealth is waiting on that list of leads you have.

10)It is NOT a working the Numbers game, but EFFECTIVELY working the numbers with MLM Leads.

Many people have called a lot of MLM leads, and they have never hit it big. Why? Lack of effective impact on the prospect. Working the numbers effectively is focusing on the lead, getting to know them, finding out what they are looking for, understanding they may not be truly interested, and caring more about what is right for them, then what is right for your paycheck. If you keep that focus, you will win HUGE with MLM Leads.

Here is a BONUS Reality- It is NOT the MLM Lead as much as what you DO with it.

How can one person call 100 leads and get nothing, and another call the same lead list and recruit 10 people? It is what you DO with the lead, not what you just say. Focus on what they want, and not what you want. Be their friend, and care more about THEIR paycheck than yours. Show them you can help transform their life, and future.

Forums are the best place to drive targeted Visitors to
Your Website. You can also increase your marketing
knowledge, make joint ventures and get quick help by

The internet is the perfect place for anyone to make a steady income yet many people fall victim to all the hype and loose focus of one main goal that is easily attainable to make money. Sure there are affiliate programs and other ways to make money online but if you really want to make big money on the internet you need to start your own website. It�s simple to start and once the money starts coming in you will never want to stop!

When I first started on the internet nine years ago I fell victim to every money making plan you could think of and spent a lot of money. Yet it is the experience that has helped me find my path to my internet fortune. It all begins in your mind and you must follow through with what ever idea you have cause you can make it a reality.

1.Make or resell your own product on the internet where you get paid 100% of the profits. The reason behind this is if you sell affiliate products you only get a small part of the sale. For example, if you sold product as an affiliate for $29.99 you might get a commission of $14.00 per sale but if you owned the product you would get the full payment of $29.99 to you.
2.Get a domain name and set up web hosting for your website. This can be done at a very low price. Don�t get a website with free hosting cause many companies are not dependable. Godaddy.com has a very reasonable web hosting package for any budget and great customer service 24/7.
3.Get your own merchant account! This would be the most important part of your business to control the money you make. Sure you could use third party merchant accounts like Pay Pal, Storm Pay etc�But you would rather have the money you make deposited right in your bank account. If you make $1000 in one day it is deposited in your bank account for easy access to your profits the same day!
4.Make sure you are able to capture your website visitors e mail address and first name. Then you could run your own newsletter and inform your customers of special deals and refer them to other websites where you can earn affiliate fees. That way you can follow up with customers to come back to your website. For example let�s say that you want to run a half price sale on a product exclusive to people on your mailing list. A Dear Diane, heading would be read more than just a general Hey look at this! So always capture the persons name with an e mail address so you can personalize the e mails you send.
5.Design your website to sell! Make sure you give all the information about your product and always state the benefits of you product. Make sure every aspect of your website is functional and that you are ready to begin taking orders.
6.Register you website with the top 10 search engines with keywords related to your website. The top ten as of this writing are Yahoo, Google, Teoma, Snap.com, Netscape Search, Wisenut, MSN, Gigablast, AskJeeves, AltaVista. Registering with search engines is important for people to find your website online.
7.Link you website to others of similar interest. For example if I sold guitars I would want to link to a site that sold musical instruments. Link Scout is a good program that can bring you a steady flow of target traffic to your website that would only click on you link if they are interested in your product.
8.Get the word out to as many places as you can! Submit messages to forums. Write articles about your product and submit it to Article Banks that are related to your product or service. A good source for customers is the number one site on the internet Yahoo. Yahoo groups has a large database of people interested in specific things. Example, if I sold a credit repair book I could join and post messages about it in all the groups that are related to getting out of debt and you could reach thousands in a matter of minutes! I use this same technique daily and have hundreds of people visit my site just from posting messages at Yahoo Groups. Advertise in ezines related to our product for more exposure.
9.Use joint ventures with other website owners that offer products similar to yours! This is a great way to expand the reach of your website. Always get a recommendation from your joint venture partner and work out a deal where both of you will profit from exposing each other�s websites to visitors.
10.Use offline marketing! This is highly overlooked on the internet I don�t know why but print is forever! If you place a good ad with your website in a magazine or newspaper it will last forever as long as the publication is in good condition. You could be getting thousands of customers from an ad you placed in January to your website throughout the year this works!

Last but not least Start your own affiliate program. That�s right now you pay people to sell your product and pay them a commission. Imagine having over one thousand people promoting your product. This is one of the fastest was to have a jump in sales and all the money is coming to you. In closing theses steps are not hard to implement and any one can have a successful website operating on the internet. We are living in a period similar to the Gold Rush of Califiornia and the internet is changing the way we do business everyday. You can contact millions of people and with the right product money can be made. It doesn�t take any special skills except a desire to succeed and your fortune on the internet is only one click away

They specialize, on having it all. It�s either doing well in one part of the whole, or aiming for completeness.

Yahoo managed to set up its hologram and fill it in, in a balanced fashion multi-faceted, simultaneously just like an organic being. All its parts function, all at one time, covering every aspect of Internet presence and marketing. There was no chance left to failure, for all was taken into consideration at any given time.

They first built a foundation upon expertise, later infusing it with proportionately expanding creative mechanisms, mostly adhering to known business aspects and common sense for advancement. Just as a profitable business model needs be.

Can this be replicated?

Surely, just as a human can be nearly replicated through �generation�, another project could succeed. However, this project could not take the place of Yahoo, for that space is occupied just fine. A new project aiming at completeness would have to be something with a higher abstract idea, something with a higher aim than just Internet presence and marketing, and most of all, this new project would have to show humanity pioneering ways of �overcoming� their current dilemma and not just better ways of �managing� it, or escaping from it, while using this Internet media in depth.

Can this new project be described? Yes, it will be utilizing high technology to prove that technology is unnecessary, while facilitating access to real power to all of human-kind.

First, let me assure you, that this project is under way. Its details will be accessible to its members only via the usual log-in first, or you don�t exist. Yahoo is my pet peeve. On one hand I respect them for their services and the way they accomplished their all-round business so well. Then, there is the other hand. Since 1997, I have applied to be listed by Yahoo� I truly felt that rejection each time.

It�s now obvious. No regular human is able to accept the term �Entrepreneurial End-time Church�. It just cannot be categorized, labeled, or controlled.

So, the only way I have of justifying and redeeming my purpose is to win the game, permanently.

At this point, I will only reveal 3 additional distinct Differences between the old (yahoo-model) and the new (macro-model).

(1- Pioneering, in order to �overcome�.)

2- Single-Mindedly focused on progress downward, as in bringing the �macro-cosmos� upon the �micro-cosmos�, superseding what is with the highest abstract idea and uniquely combining authentic prophecy wisdom, entrepreneurial know-how and Internet savvy as symbolisms for the new, never before, to come.

3- Unifying the progressive vs. buying the talented, offering true spiritual power vs. paper or plastic, giving in order to give, not to receive, because of finished mindset.

4- Accomplishing the task by silent power-action from behind the scenes, out-focusing, as opposed to loud media circus, shouting, overriding, out-doing and gambling casino methods that have obviously become less and less effective, (for it is ever harder to get a financial statement from a casino).

This new project is the new strong and silent type. The person of few words that always cut to the chase and never fail. This does not need any allies other than the one supply of power. It has already been promised victory in ancient literature.

What is the prize for those who join in?

RSS (Real Simple Syndication) Explained in Plain English

RSS(Real Simple Syndication) is the talk around the net these days because of its many benefits.

I'm sure you've received several emails(like I have) telling you to jump on the "RSS" band wagon and that it's the answer to all your Internet and Email marketing woe's because of its syndication capabilities.

With RSS Directories and Search Engines coming into the mix as well these days for RSS feeds you really have to decide whether or not you really want it get in on the "RSS" craze.

Now, before I get to far ahead of myself here I want to make sure you know exactly what RSS "IS" and WHY it's becoming such an essential tool for Your online business and other businesses around the world.

I've received a lot of feedback from people just starting out online and/or other webmasters who are not quite sure asking... "what is "RSS" in Plain English and do I need it for my online business?".

RSS is by definition -- an acronym for "Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary", and the .XML extension is the format used for distributing YOUR news headlines via the Web, which is known as "Syndication".

"Syndication" is where the TRUE power of RSS is unleashed, getting your message or information across the web in an INSTANT to websites, your subscribers and/or readers.

Now, to put this in plain english, "RSS" is simply a technology that distributes YOUR information(whatever it might be -- ex. Articles, Special Offers, Product Reviews, Resource Announcements) by syndicating it across the net.

It's that simple.

It doesn't have to get any more complex then that.

The more websites, subscribers and/or readers that opt-in to your RSS feeds, the more FREE targeted TRAFFIC you'll receive from their websites.

One of the Golden Rules of Internet Marketing

In my opinion, one of the 'Golden Rules' of Internet marketing has to be the following:

'Once you have uploaded a website, you should leave it online forever - even if it is only making you a couple of dollars a month.'

As long as you are covering the hosting and domain registration fees each year (maximum of a couple of dollars a month), then why take the site offline? Admittedly if the site is causing you hours of work every week and still only making you a couple of dollars income each month, then yes, remove it. But if the site involves you in no work (for example if it sells an eBook or you generate Adsense income etc from it, then why remove it?)

The point is that whilst the site in question may only be generating a small amount today, you never know what might happen tomorrow�..

This principle has been illustrated to me in a pretty big way during the past week and this is the sole reason that it is fresh in my mind and I want to share the experience with you so that you don't make the mistake that I very nearly made.

I have a site which I built about three years ago. It was a bit of an experiment and not connected to my main income-earning sites in any way. The site covered a topic that was pretty competitive online - an industry for which top search engine rankings were exceptionally hard to get. As I say, it was an experiment and I didn't really expect the site to make me much money - which was a good thing as it meant that I wasn't too disappointed when it didn't! :-)

After a few months of receiving no traffic, the site was eventually picked up by a couple of the major search engines and it started to receive a handful of visitors each day. I guess on a very good day I would get 45 referrals. Needless to say, the site wasn't making a fortune in income but something is always better than nothing.

Anyway at the beginning of this year I undertook a review of all of my websites and made the decision to ditch a few of the under-performing sites. This is where I nearly made a big mistake by deleting my little site but for whatever reason, the site in question managed to survive my 'cull'. It was a close call but in the end I decided that even though the site was only making $20 or $30 a month, it wasn't involving me in any work so it would be stupid to turn it off just for the sake of it.

So the site remained online and up until last week, it continued to tick over as it has done for the past three years, earning a minimal income every month from the few visitors that manage to find it.

That all changed last Thursday however when Google suddenly decided that my little experiment site was far more valuable than it had previously thought. Yup, Google decided that instead of listing my site way down the rankings for one or two low-level keywords, it would index the site at the top of the rankings (quite literally in first place in many instances) for numerous high-level keywords! :-)

Result? The site has gone from receiving an average of 35 visitors a day from Google to receiving over 500 visitors per day. On the busiest day this week, Google kindly sent the site just under 800 visitors.

Of course, this is great news and the site is already making considerably more profit than it has ever done but just look at how I would have missed out if I had taken the site offline. Remember, this is a site that I have barely touched in three years and I certainly haven't spent any time optimizing the site for the search engines. It is just a simple case of Google changing their algorithm in a way that favours my site considerably. This is one of those situations which could happen to any website at any time and this is the main reason why I say, once you have a site online, leave it there.

Clearly there is no guarantee that my site is going to stay at the top of Google for any length of time and given my experience of how search engines work, I am prepared for it to drop back down the index at any time but I am certainly enjoying the extra traffic while it lasts.

The above situation also illustrates how fickle search engines can be. Longer term readers will remember that I took the decision not to bother chasing search engine rankings some time ago. This decision was taken after Google decided to move one of my highly optimized sites from top position for countless keywords to about 20th position. This was a site which I had spent weeks optimizing and a site which had held top positions for over two years. Traffic to this site dropped away in hours and that was the point at which I vowed not to waste my time chasing search engine rankings and instead, would just let the search engines sort themselves out and rank my sites as they saw fit.

Ezines in themselves will need advertising to get their word out. A perfectly written ezine does no one any good if no one knows that it is out there to be seen. Finding an audience for your ezine may be easier than you think. Make sure when going into ezines that you know your material and that the writing is concise and accurate.

SEO, or search engine optimization, is a proven method of advertising on the Internet and a field, which is very much in demand at this time. SEO is a system of writing web content that uses specific key words and phrases that will pull the page up when that keyword or phrase is typed into any of the search engines. Knowing how to effectively use keywords to get a site recognized is critical for small businesses on the web.

When you open a search engine such as 'Yahoo!' or 'Google', and type in the phrase Internet advertising, you will get a list of results. Those results are formulated by the words Internet and advertising. Sites that have those two words incorporated consistently throughout the site will come up on the list. These lists are in order by the most hit on sites at the top of this list. Of course, that is where you want your advertising business opportunity clients to be.

Educating your self on these concepts and a few more will allow you to start marketing your Internet advertising business. Becoming an Internet business advertising consultant to companies who are looking to expand their presence on the web is a first step in building your reputation and presence in this field.

You must have a well-written profile centered on your Internet advertising experience and an up to date resume'. Businesses today are being inundated with new, and sometimes bogus, advertising opportunities and you need to stand out above all those other offers. Keep your presence, online and in the field, professional at all times and make sure you can deliver what you promise. With those things in mind, you should be successful.
